As someone who retired from the U.S. Navy, I’ve been watching the progress of a decline that started following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. DEI, promotions based on ethnicity and gender vice capabilities, the removal of high performing leaders over political correctness and replacing them with significantly less capable persons. It isn’t new and isn’t a result of just the current administration. It’s been going on since before Bill Clinton was elected. Much more significantly since then. With a slight break during the immediate response to 9/11 and for a period of time in Iraq.

As a veteran, I’ve talked with a huge number of combat vets from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and the Navy who served in the Persian Gulf region. What I’ve been hearing and seeing is not what the pundits and military talking heads are saying in the media and on The Hill (Congressional Testimony).

This isn’t the first time in U.S. history we’ve seen this type of behavior. However, it may be the last. As Grant Piper so clearly notes — if confronted by a similar issue, it appears unlikely that the U.S. military would fare as well or better than Russia has.

Does the U.S. military have better technology than other countries? In some areas, the answer is a resounding YES. In other areas, the answer is a resounding NO. It all depends on what specifically you consider.
